Hope for Today October 14

good morning everyone-

Today's reading is about the relationship we have w our HP and how sometimes we may question it or the strength of the connection there.  The writer mentions that after the loss of his parents he also felt the loss of his connection w God, or at least felt an abandonment at that time.  He noticed that by paying attention in nature, and all the life that exists within it, he felt peacefulness.  When he joined the program later in life he was at first taken aback by how many times God is mentioned at the meetings and was concerned that if he didnt find a reconnection, he may reach a roadblock in recovery.

He began to recall the times in nature and the comfort it brought and felt the healing grace of God in that way.  He was able to reestablish his contact when he was ready.

This reading resonates with me as I also lost both of my parents in the last two years.  What I have noticed is not only my connection w God when I am in nature, but when I listen to the waves at the ocean, or the wind blowing, see the sun burning I think especially of my mother.  I do think God (my HP) is providing me the chance to feel this connection and Im so grateful for it.

I love the thought for the day - a reminder that we cannot comprehend the extent of our HPs care for us.

i hope everyone enjoys their Sunday!

Mary

Beautiful passage Maryr Thank you for the reminder. Prior to program I had NO connection to HP however upon entering the rooms i began to nurture this connection through prayer, meditation and the Steps. I did then start to notice the guidance, care and love of my HP.
Today I see him all around in people, nature and even in the loss of a loved one. The courage, serenity and wisdom I received from this program is proof enough. Thanks for your service

Thank you Mary for your service and the daily. Thank you both for your shares and ESH. I had stepped away many years before recovery as I felt I had been left behind. I had a distorted view of who God was/is as well as how to connect. As with many things, I tried to control the relationship, outcomes, etc.

I too practiced what was suggested to me, and 'acted as if' I believed even before I did. Over time, I realized my disconnect was on me - I had resisted being a part of because I did not get my way! My ego and pride did block my path to the sunlight of the spirit. Working the steps and practicing this program as best I could helped remove that blockage and continue growing spiritually.

I have always loved the outdoors. I have not always been grateful for the beauty, joy and serenity being in nature brings me. Today, that's changed and I am grateful to be able to see God working in my life, always, through people, places, things, experiences. I truly trust in what is and am content to just be me.

Happy Sunday all - off to a meeting shortly - make it a great day!
