Prayers for hubby needed

((((((((((((((((((Family)))))))))))))))))),

I came home from work today, to find a note that his best friend in rehab died of an overdose today.
This breaks my heart, as he was the one person from rehab that hubby trusted. "Bob" was an amazing man, and while he had a hard life, in and out of jail. He still had the most loving heart. Somehow the meth was just too much of a draw for him. No one deserves this. I will miss him very much, especially his toothless grin, and laughter.

I'm not sure about the details, but he had been absent from group for several weeks, and no one could get a hold of him. But he was in the process of moving and had no phone. Hubby did say that he was going to support today so that gives me some comfort that he is in a safe place. But I will not rest easy until he is back home and I can hold tight to him.

I know "Bob" is in a much better place, and he is at peace. I pray for him and his family. I also pray for hubby's comfort and peace. I hope this does not set him back, and will give him the strength to fight for his recovery and sobriety even harder. I know "Bob" wanted this for him.

Please pray for hubby and "Bob"'s family. We could use all we can get. They both need all the love, prayers, and support they can get. Thanks for letting me share my sorrow with you.

Love and blessings to all of you and your families.

Live strong,
Karilynn

My condolances and prayers for your family and theirs.

My Uncle passed 3 weeks ago, another long time member of AA and recovering A/heroin addict.  It amazes me to this day, with all the chaos and pain in his life, that he was a regular speaker at AA meetings all around our area and was a trusted sponsor to many.  He really touched many lives although he virtually destroyed his own.

Maybe they have both fully recovered at this point, and are full of the grace they have missed during this earthly life.

May your HP heal your family's hurting heart.

Karilynn, yes, this is such a tragic and dreadful disease. I will send prayers of love, support and peace to your family and Bobs. I'm glad you feel he is in a better place now, I too believe this, he's free from his earthly suffering. Wishing you comfort in your time of sorrow and loss.

Sorry to hear about this loss & tragedy Karilynn.... Your friend sounds very similar to a good friend of mine, Gary, who died of an overdose a couple of years ago, after battling addictions (and sobriety) for a great many years....  He had a huge heart, and did a lot of good for a lot of people, but just couldn't seem to shake the demons around him.  When driving down to Gary's funeral, we drove another long time AA member.....  Here words stuck with me, when she stated, rather matter of factly...

"Yes it is sad, but it is NOT surprising.... he did what addicts do, when they do not find recovery."

Take care

Tom

(((((((((((((((((((Kari)))))))))))))))))))))),

I am so sorry about you and your hubby's friend.  I will be praying for you both.

Reminds me of why we keep going to program -- both AA and Alanon -- because in life pain is inevitable (someones gonna die; someones gonna fail; someones gonna ___________ fill in the blank); but suffering is optional.  That was key for me.

Just because I am in Alanon does not mean that I am exempt from pain but I don't have to suffer in program anymore.  I have family and friends that love me and that I need to reach out to.  I have people in this program who are here for me.  I have MIP when I need.

My wish for you and your hubby is that you opt to use your respective programs to get you through this sad time.

live strong, my friend ~ love,

Maria
