Tomorrow is our day - the day we came to exist in human form - and I am humbled, honored and blessed to share this day with my brother/friend Jerry. I am typically a low key gal as I have 3 A(s) as family and they are doing good to remember the day AND to send a text. I've come to accept it's just who they are - it's so not about me. I am a humble person who's not big on celebrations/gifts/etc. - I am fortunate to buy what I want when I want it and I don't want for much.
So - I'm posting early as my new found golf gals pals have got an entire day of 'unknowns' planned for me. I know I am to bring my clubs, my swimsuit and my appetite and that's all I know. I don't know about you all, but there is still a 'controlling soul' that lives deep in me that doesn't much like unknowns and is not too hip about 'surprises'.
I am to be up early and at the golf course by 7am so wanted to wish my brother and friend a very special happy birthday early vs. late! Make it a great day brother - we are blessed!!!

My lovely sister from another mother. Mom still is so grateful for us carrying the message including birthday announcements...LOL. I will love you on your birthday as I do daily because of who you are and what you do for others. I still learn from it and am never ashamed to say, "My sister taught me that"!!! If you were here in Hilo we could share a soft freeze coco ice cream sundae with M&Ms with peanuts in them and just smile smile smile. ((((Hugs)))) love you.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes! I had a great day - truly feel very blessed. I woke up and my AH not only remembered, he had a card and a new golf umbrella waiting for me by the coffee pot....It made me smile and grateful and I am all about practical gifts!!
Headed to the golf course and off we went. It's been very hot here and we were blessed to have a slight breeze and partly cloudy skies. I did not golf super good but it did not matter - we had a blast!
We then all went to the house of one, who has a pool. We spent 4.5-5 hours together with great food, friends and fun. They gave me golf balls, golf lessons and a golf cart seat cover - I was truly humbled and felt very blessed/grateful. I got home about an hour ago - so it truly was a lovely all day event. If it were not for recovery, and the courage I've been given from working to change me, this would not have the same day at all!
So - thank you beyond the birthday wishes. Your fellowship in recovery, your shares and ESH, your encouragement and support all has given me a vastly different life and view of life than I ever imagined. I am exhausted, and feeling very grateful and it's all a by-product of right living through recovery. I too will keep coming back, as I truly feel I am worth it! (((Hugs)))

Happiest of birthdays to you. I had to laugh at the controlling soul who lives deep within me statement. She also lives within me and I do not like any kind of surprise either lol. I hope that your day is full of blessings, fun and simply a day to honour you and all of the good contributions you make to this world.

serenity - what was so, so funny....when we all gathered at the house of another, and were pool-side, I said quietly and out loud, "I hope I don't blow this - I'm not very comfortable with being the center of attention." The gal sitting next to me said also very quietly, "Me nether - I hope you handle it better than I would!"
I am so grateful to find that even those who are not affected by this disease have similarities to us - caused by who knows what. Lovely people who are open, honest and genuine sure help me to feel more 'well' in my recovery. It's so easy to wonder if it's just me that fears 'things like this'. Thanks for your share and the lovely birthday wishes! I'm still basking in the 'queen for the day' feeling these lovely ladies created for me!

I arrived at the conclusion one night at a meeting listening to all of the stories "God we're all human!!" "We are all alike" and what was funny was that I was sitting in a room full of females...LOL One of them told me much later on "Jerry F you are going to have to get in touch with your female side" and I did and my recovery took off. Thank you God for the women who re-raised me in Al-Anon. My mother I believe was also grateful. (((((HUGS)))))
