ODAT Reading 9-8

Posting for LU

The tools continue to serve me  and help improve my interactions with others and  my faith in the moment and myself. In the evening, This morning's quote in the ODAT, as sort of prayer, reminds what we can bring.

"Help me use the gifts You have given me. I want to use them to help others through my making my own world better and brighter."The reading also suggests that we Must "Know ourselves in order to grow and interact in the world.

We have so many good quaities hidden under negative guilt, and fear  That i s what the Steps and slogans help us to see and discard what is harmful

Have a great day

Thank you Betty for the daily and for your service. No matter how many times I work the steps and/or how many days I am in recovery, I am humble enough to pray each morning asking for his will, not mine to lead me through the day. My morning prayers includes 4 key things for me - Sobriety, Serenity, Sanity and Service. That's what I focus on as I start my day - and it serves me well.

I can honestly say, that just for today, and in spite of 'life' happening around me that I love my life. I have all that I need and much more and feel very, very grateful most of the time. What a stark difference to when I first arrived - angry at the world, feeling broken and so focused on how 'life' was unfair!

Happy Saturday to you - been to a meeting, brunch, golf and am now resting! Our rain has finally moved out and left behind some incredible weather for the next week! Excited for the change - we needed the rain but I am glad it's moving on...

Thank you for your service Betty! I appreciate the importance of developing a routine as part of working a strong program. Deep down, I think I do know myself, but too much of me still hides under fear. I'm grateful for opportunities to practice discarding the fear, one bit at a time.

Thank you, Betty for your service..Not just the dailies but every day...I, too think i know me much better, but I'm still covered with fear and doubting me......I am using behavior changing (haaaaard to do) to over ride the compulsive "finishing things as fast as I can" ..mind racing not slowing down, not paying attention.....this is soooo frustrating, trying to MAKE me slow down, ....it has been really bad of late....There are times i just feel like tossing up my hands and saying "ok..i quit" been real frustrated with me and this self sabotaging behavior....I am literally my worst enemy and I want soooo bad to find a key, a way, a thing I can practice to STOP this....to HELP me , not hinder me.....anyone else feel like this??????

I'm trying meditations, visualizing myself as this poor scared child that I was and to feel compassion for me, not hate for the raging drunk and her serial offender husband......also i am practicing (w/out much success) slowing down, using my 5 senses and setting limits on how much I do in one day and to easy easy does it.....I don't want to up my meds..I want to not suppress the symptoms I want to overcome the root behavior...I do believe that Jerry was spot on when he mentioned some time ago, that we need to change behaviour and mind will follow.....self talk doesn't work as well for me because i don't believe words that much....ACTION impresses me more, so I am doing the action....and hoping this racing, compulsive mind will follow suit...the subconscious is power w/out direction, it will manifest what it is taught, positive or negative...so I am trying to "retrain" it with focused, concentrated ACTION.....this daily made me think of this..what I got to do to have any hope of creating better energy.............hope this made sense....
