ODAT Reading 8-28

The ODAT  reading for August 28 speaks of loosing our temper as a  form of "Forgetting our Best Selves. It points out that by loosing our temper, judging and critiquing  others  and  engaging n such negative activities we loose our "True selves".
. The reading suggests that we embrace "who we want to be, " and identify our positive qualities and not react in a negative manner.

"Forget not thyself in times of anger "  great reminder to not react and to have a great day

Good morning Betty and happy Tuesday! Thank you for your service and the daily. So, so true - loosing our temper is a form of forgetting our best selves. As the queen of reactive behavior prior to recovery, I am so grateful that we have the tools to do different and be different.

I am so grateful all of the program tools are available to lead me to a different way of being. For me, when 'life happens', I am way better than before in picking up a tool and working on a healthy response instead of an emotional reaction. It is a freedom I did not even know existed.

Today, I am unwilling to give my power away to any person, place or thing as I truly love my serenity. As I reflect, there were so many things that were not even my business that I obsessed about - I am not that person or way any longer! I can also say that because I live differently, I rarely get angry any longer - compared to always in my past.

Make it a great day! Off to golf a bit later today - so able to stop by briefly before I depart this morning. It's already hot here, but storms and cooler weather are predicted for this evening. (((Hugs)))

Thank you, Betty and Iamhere for your service and wise words.

I love the thought of 'embracing who we want to be.'

hey (((((((((((Betty))))))))))))))   good to see this....."losing our temper"    omg...that hits the bullseye with me...and when I do that I do forget my CORE or real self.......I sometimes can get into a real snag with my temper.....judging, yea, criticizing myself and others, yea  and yea, losing my real self in the anger......my practice promise to me is to   stop.....breathe......let the emotions pass by observe, not react.....keep myself, even when mad,   its ok to get angry in that it means i need to set a boundary, or stand up for me in another way, or take care of me...but to let it go out of control where I lose my perspective, then I am in trouble....we have that emotion for  a very good reason, but it can also, literally, be a loaded gun as well........
