Alanon Concept 3...

 Concept 3...

The right of decision makes effective leadership possible.

I was told this relates to all levels of leadership in Alanon. This means that a GR can go to an assembly, S/he can take the group conscience along with them... but if the circumstances changes they are entitled to change their mind.

19 times out of 20 the GR will get it right. We are not a business. Nor are we like many other organisations. We here here to bring hope to ours and others. We face dire and very serious sets of circumstances.

This happens at each and every level of organisation, in my experience. biggrin ...

Within our organisation we can learn stuff- that will help us in our day to day lives- even sometimes, in the workforce.

Not our primary aim- but not to be sneezed at either! [In my view].

I never ever thought I would get to this point in my recovery... it is a bonus, a gift. Thanks. smile

You are so right, David!!

One of the biggest "eye-openers" for me was that the principles, slogans, tools, etc., could be applied in just about every facet of my life! How cool is that?

smile Thanks P & P. Here in NZ they read out the steps, traditions and concepts at every meeting plus the General Warranties of Service.

So even newcomers get a deep insight into how Alanon operates.

I liked Concept 4 the best- Participation is the key to harmony.

With this one I always thought it applied to others and other situations. But then I realised that harmony equalled serenity. [Or emotional sobriety, or maturity.]

So once this internal harmony kicked in life seemed much more easier... aww ...

I have always embraced the Steps and Traditions in my every day life and witness their value in the meeting rooms . The principles outlined keep the meeting rooms safe from other member attempting to dominate or shine.

Since we are a fellowship of equals the principles of holding business meetings and voting on a topic seems to permit participation by all members
