ODAT Reading 4-24-18

The ODAT reading for  April 24 speaks about entering the rooms of Al-Anon and discovering a bright new world. The reading suggests that this bright new world can be developed by picking up the Al-Anon tools such as a sponsor,. meetings, the steps and letting go of our old negative tools such as fear, bitterness and resentment. The reading goes on to say that we must guard against judging others by our standards and work toward  living up to the standards ourselves.  It is possible to develop a new view of the world by entering  the program, and picking up the tools.  By learning to examine  our motives   and honestly admitting that we are wrong we will  shed many negative defects and our  recovery. will  grow.

The final word on the subject is that  In order to be able to change our attitudes we need  to be honest about ourselves

The quote is from Marcus Aurelius; "because a thing seems difficult for you, do not think it is impossible for any one  to  accomplish  but whatever is possible for another believe too that you are capable of it .

Powerful reading  and validation of this program.   I  can truly say that I have shed my negative attitudes and have embraced a much more positive outlook. Thank you alanon
 Have  a great day..

Good morning MIP! Betty, thank you for your service.

Learning to look honestly at my character defects allowed me to release them and make room for more positivity in my life.
One thing I learned and am still learning is that honestly looking at my character defects means not over-rating my impact on situations, and not mistaking all problems, issues, or defects as mine. Today, I am better able to own what is mine, and let others own what is theirs. I'm thankful for this journey

Good morning MIP and thank you for the ESH and shares above me. Thank you Betty for the daily and your service.

I arrived angry that I had to work on me.....I truly believe the world around me needed to change and I was just fine as is. Clearly, I had a huge amount of distorted thinking and by the grace of God and of others who arrived before me, I've come to 'see' I am far from perfect. What's even better about this? I am not disappointed - I am grateful.

Allowing myself to just be - present, human, imperfect, open - has given me room to grow, change and bloom. I would not be who I am if it weren't for Al-Anon. I am glad that even when life is challenging, I can find miracles all around me by looking for them.

Happy Tuesday all - the sun is shining again and it's another lovely spring day....my allergies are acting up - spring has arrived! Make it a lovely day!
