C2C Reading 4-14-2018

I am posting the daily for Looiking Up, who is under tornado watch.  Prayers that she stays safe.

The C2C reading for April 14 discusses our negative thinking and suggests ways of addressing it. The reading points out that awareness of the negative thoughts is the first step towards change. It suggests that we must do more than just  see these negative thoughts- we  must replace them with something positive. The reading recommends listening to audio cassettes while driving  or cleaning the house. These are the  conference approved literature. that can be accessed on tape
The reading also  suggests that we pay close attention to what message we tell ourselves  and make sure that we
replace negative  illusions  with positive truths

The quote is from in All Our Affairs; "what we teach ourselves with our thoughts and attitudes is is up to us

Alanon program s not an easy one to follow as  we must constantly monitor our thoughts and feelings to determine what is going on inside -- But it is worth it

Good morning Betty and thank you for your service, the daily and your ESH!

Sending prayers of safety to/for LU - stay safe...

I do believe that I arrived at Al-Anon with a 'glass have empty' view of everything. My negative thinking patterns weren't just about the A or the drama/chaos brought to my life by the disease but reached way beyond. Part of me were aware and other parts of me justified it - 'if you had my life, you'd be negative too...'

I had tried many times to think my way to a different outlook. It was in recovery that I first heard about acting my way to right thinking instead of trying to think my way to right actions. This 'stuck' in my mind and as tools were shared with me, it made more and more sense.

I know for me that what I focus on expands - if I am negative, more appears bleak. If I am hopeful and positive, things appear good! I am grateful Al-Anon suggests we just focus on today and what's in front of us - it makes it easier for me to assess my emotions and attitudes and to 'start my day over' if necessary.

Make it a great day - off to a meeting shortly! We had nasty weather here last night with some wicked hail/winds and hopefully this is the last weekend of winter temperatures in spring - we'll see! (((Hugs)))

Thank you Betty for posting today's C2C and your service and to those who gave ESH before me. Prayers for safety for LU and those in her area. Spring is sure having a hard time popping forward this year. Damp here today, walk was a little squishy and that's okay. Today I think it will be some indoor activities like another load of laundry and then a good book. Today can be good if my attitude is positive.
