I'm 24 years old and I would love for someone who has left a rough relationship with an alcoholic to private message me. I feel absolutely lost and I really need to talk to someone. Please
Hi welcome to the board.
I am so sorry to hear that you are facing a difficult situation involving alcoholism.
I am 27 and am married to an alcoholic who is currently in rehab. He is also dealing with other addictions. After years of decline in our situation, I eventually asked him to leave. He decided at that point to seek treatment. I have since moved back in with my mother (who lives in a completely different country). Despite the chaos in my life, I am experiencing more peace and improvement every day.
I found Al Anon just at the right minute, I started by posting to this group, but I slowly also started attending Al Anon meetings both the online meetings here in the chat room and also f2f meetings. Through Al Anon I have learned to that no situation is to difficult to be improved. Other people will post on here who have had much more experience in Al Anon than I have. They have valuable insight to share about how they improved their situations.
I would strongly encourage you to attend meetings, even if it is just the meetings online, they have been of enormous help to me. You are welcome to PM me if you wish.
Please keep coming back, there is help and hope in Al Anon.
Hello- Welcome. If you are in danger, I urge you to call the police . If not search out alanon face to face meetings and attend.
Alcoholism is a dreadful progressive disease over which we are POWERLESS. Alanon will provide you with new constructive tools to live by so please do attend;
Welcome to MIP aabbcc1 - glad you found us and glad that you shared. I also encourage you to attend some meetings! Al-Anon gave me a safe place to restore self to sanity, rebuild my self-esteem through the program and heal/deal from the affects of this disease. I felt like I found my tribe and first time, you will get phone numbers to reach out when you are in need of personal support.
Please keep coming back - there is hope and help in recovery!
