Some days back there was a post on this board which I can no longer locate. It was about a window that now appears on the entrance of the MIP Alanon Chatroom which requires that you check it off in order to get into the chatroom for a meeting. When you check off this box and hit Connect, you get a Green Line load much like an old dial up connection. When the line fully loads, my guess is you can enter the chatroom. 

I found when I checked off the box and the green line was activated, the loading was very slow. Upon clicking "what is this," my virus protection kicked in and alerted me that my computer was not safe. This is by entrance through java. I understand that another option is to enter by downloading mirc but that has always been optional not manditory to successfully enter and be able to participate in online meeting here.

Is there someone now addressing techical issues of this site? Is there a reason for the verify box? As chair people we have always had the capability of monitoring, removing and even permanently banning bots to the room, keeping the meeting room safe. Addionally, I see some of the same technical people working in the background who have been here for many years (their name show on the screen when entering).

I guess I'd just like to know the latest on this. If nothing is being done about this, if this is the "new normal" lol no pun intended, if I missed the memo, fill me in. Although I my Alanon recovery is not limited to online recovery, it is a part of my recovery. It would be good to know if the VERIFY ME is now a permanent requirement to enter mip for an alanon meeting. If so, some like myself whose virus protection signals an alert of danger may want to seek out another site for online Alanon meetings.
