The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
ctc=courage to change asks us to reflect back unto tradition eleven in which
alanons public relations policy is described as being based on attraction rather than promotion
what this tradition saying to me is that my 1st responsibility in alanon is to learn to keep the focus on myself,an to do my best to live this program one day at a time,
if i am not walking the walk, there is little point in talking the talk,
if i am not demonstrateing recovery in my life to the best of my ability, then talking about the program may be nothing more than a substitute for living it,
before i start telling others about alanon,i might consider posing this question to myself "did they ask"

example is not the main thing in influencing others.it is the only thing".........allbert schweitzer

Good Morning Looking up, I love all the traditions and really do appreciate your posting your thoughts on Tradition 11. Love the concept of "attraction rather than promotion" It says to me if I am not "walking the walk" so that others notice then "talking the talk" is a waste of time. In this fellowship of equals, those who truly work the program and live it from within. do exhibit a certain spiritual feeling that others can sense and appreciate.
Thanks for your service and have a lovely day
Good morning-I think since beginning program several years ago, I have become an example of working the tools and making progress. (not perfection LOL) It seems to just come naturally to me at this point--slogans pop into my head, the Serenity Prayer when I am stressed, and the new me is a better functioning and healthier person. I don't feel the need to preach this to anyone. My program is just for me, and I get unsolicited feedback that I am an improved person, especially from my son which means a lot to me. It is harder for my A to accept my changes because I am less codependent on her and stronger in general. Thanks for the reminder . A grateful member of alanon, Lyne
Happy Saturday to one and all.....thank you LU for your service and the daily. Thanks to those above me for your shares and ESH. I too like the traditions and learn from them always. I am all about attraction vs. promotion - the former has worked well for the groups I am aligned with. I am actually gun-shy around heavy promotion of anything - it just goes against who I am and who I want to be.
We had a great meeting this morning about sharing ESH vs. advice-giving. It was an great meeting with tons of wisdom. Living life one day at a time and learning to love me helped me get beyond a need to 'preach' or find followers for whatever I was hot for next. Living, loving, learning and leading are all best taught and accepted by example. Lovely life lesson for me!
Make it a great day all!
