It has been a week of birthdays in the literal sense of the word. I have had some frustrations and a lot of gratitude regarding my relatively new relationship and the fallout from his choices. Some days I'm ok with it and some days not so much. This week I have struggled to focus on the positive of what my situation is.
Last night my BF made dinner and a cake for my daughter .. I was over the moon just because no one has ever done that .. I mean the whole I don't have to think for 4 people kind of stuff .. I didn't have to ask .. I didn't have to beg .. he just did it because he knew I was at my wits end with thinking in general .. LOL.
My daughter informed us at the dinner table that she has a full ride to her college for tuition based upon her work study program .. as long as she's doing work study .. she will continue to have her tuition paid for the entire time. I almost cried out of sheer relief .. it means I don't have to go back to court regarding college for her.
You all have no idea how stinking proud I am of her .. she did this on her own .. she has worked her tail end off .. and while I have been involved in her studies .. I have always imparted to both of my kids your grades are a reflection of how much work you choose to do .. I totally have your back if you have issues with a teacher what I mean by that is .. they have gone to the teacher to find out about a grade and the teacher is not explaining it clearly .. I have no issue going to the teacher and having a sit down. I have had days that I am lucky to have gotten out of bed let alone be up to date on what the kids are doing in school. They are both very good about letting me know .. this is going on .. I'm struggling here .. and so on.
My daughter was failing school in the 8th grade when we were all at the height of our craziness. It was awful. I felt so badly based upon what I know now and how much she was struggling .. I did the right things .. I was going to counseling and alanon .. she was in counseling as well. Even my son was in counseling and I want him to go back in now just to sort through some emotions he has been dealing with. We were all still stuck in a serious cycle of dysfunction .. I don't know what happened in the 9th grade however something flipped in her. She just decided that she was going to do whatever she needed to do for her grades and the hard work paid off.
We moved to Texas and girl just took off in terms of growth on all four levels. I just can't begin to say how awesome it has been .. life here did not start off easy by any shape of the imagination and the X made sure it wasn't. Which I'm still finding ways to deal with that resentment.
At least I know we can get through the first year with no issues .. the next years are going to have to take care of themselves.

Woo-hoo - super awesome news - Congrats. to your daughter.....great job and well done/deserved! Kudos to your guy for doing his part in celebrating her birthday - that's so nice!!! And - you have every right to be proud of your girl - wear it well sister - it's worthy of another celebration....or a whole week of them - #amIRight? Ha.ha.ha.ha....(((hugs)))

LOL .. I know right? I was talking to a co-worker today saying ok .. I'm so over cupcakes and cake at the moment as we fly full throttle into Easter. UGH! My butt will be as big as my chair at this rate!!
:) It has been a lot to celebrate recently .. just struggling through the whole issue of what do I really want.

Serenity - I 'feel' you on the cake/cupcake/backside statement.....we have a parade of birthdays in Sept/Oct and I always end it feeling like a sugar cube...Of course, readily admitting my mind can be 'strange' - the song, Fat Bottom Girls make the rocking world go round flew in from the right!
Keep doing you and the answers will come! They always do!!

LOL .. yes my sugar overload is just that a sugar overload ..
There is a half eaten cake at home no one touched last night not because it wasn't amazing .. just because we were like ok .. I just can't even.
This weekend we are making sugar eggs and then next weekend is Easter .. I think we will be focusing more on the protein than sugar!!
My girl just got braces so her brother is concerned she can't eat chocolate or a lot of sweets so we discussed more practical things for Easter Baskets, gift cards and so on. I explained they would not be for much money .. we are talking $10 cards. Then they get to hunt for eggs .. I'm a huge nerd when it comes to Easter I love it!!! So the kids get baskets.
