I posted earlier about my mother riding in the car with my 5yr old son who wasn't buckled correctly.
I have a "date" to talk to her again tonight. I set a time that wouldn't be stressful, and I'm doing my best to stay calm. I hugged friends at work, did some crochet, read my literature . . . I feel like even just a year ago I would have been diving into this argument head first, reacting to everyone else. But, it feels good to move slowly and intentionally - - I feel very clear and sure of myself, and I can feel the difference this program has made in my life. Thanks fir all if your support along the way
That is good that you have set time aside to talk to your mother. It is important to not say things when we are angry,even though it is hard not to do. It is a learning process. I might wake up in the morning feeling resentful, then as the day goes on I find my serenity.
I can see the program at work in your intentionality. I hope the conversation goes well.

It felt good to be so clear headed - my mom of course didn't like it and made sure to tell me. Lol She said she thought I was talking to her like she was a stranger. I was detached from her emotional whirlwind and she felt she had less influence over me and did not like that.
It also felt good to let her know how I was feeling, to express my anger honestly instead of pushing it aside. I'm still sorting through feelings but i'm glad I said what I needed to say and I'm happy to move on
I am so happy to hear that the conversation went well!
In my experience, when someone calls me out for being detached or cold, that is a good thing because it means that I am dealing calmly and directly with an unacceptable situation, and not getting caught up in the whirlwind of crazy emotion.
