Partner dry since NYE, drinking again ...

So posted in the thread (http://alanon.activeboard.com/t63080803/hello-checking-in-partner-has-been-sober-since-christmas-eve/), yesterday night (Friday) noticed she'd been drinking.

And again tonight when I got in after training.

Oh well, I suppose 2 weeks (the longest period of sobriety in about 5+ years) was the longest.

I noticed during these 2 weeks she's been edgy / sometimes snappy etc, I just let it slide as I can understand how it must feel to be going through detox. (Is that dry drunk behaviour?)

I didn't raise any hopes or anything in myself as it's her process that she has to do and work through. Part of working the steps ...

Your recovery is in your last sentence...the detachment statement and behavior...Right on.  You did that well and it didn't make it worse for her....((((hugs)))) wink

thanks. yeah I have made progress.  previously I'd be quite devestated, full of what ifs.  I do feel a bit sad  ... but it's tinged with understanding of the realness. What a horrible affliction it is.

Good for you. There what ifs steals time away from living. What about you. Can you try focusing.on you and do something you enjoy? Also meetings are vital.

(((Jitsuka))) - spot on - horrible disease that just turns those affected into the worst version of themselves possible. There is still always hope for better as well as help in recovery! Know that we're with you - be gentle with you and take it one day at a time - you are worth it!
