I got free from an abusive dysfunctional relationship through alanon. By saying things like 'you might be right' and actually believing that yes from your point of view you might be. Saying ' I'm sorry you feel that way' again, meaning it. I was sorry my alcoholic feels angry and hostile but I was not taking responsibility for how they feel any longer.
