Courage to Change (C2C) 12/8/16

Our daily reading today is about taking care of self and allowing the alcoholic to do as they need to for their own journey.  I love the quote ----

"The suffering you are trying to ease....may be the very thing needed to bring the alcoholic to a realization of the seriousness of the situation -- literally a blessing in disguise." - from So You Love an Alcoholic

Our reminder today -- I will take care to avoid building an avalanche of my own.  Am I heaping up resentments, excuses, and regrets that have the potential to destroy me?  I don't have to be buried under them before I address my own problems.  I can begin today.

The reading compares the issues for the alcoholic of problems piling up to an avalanche.  It does suggest that the best we can do is get out of the way as we don't have to be taken down with the disease and the diseased when it begins to crumble.  We have choices, one day at a time, to focus on ourselves and working spiritually to be a better version of us, just for today.

~~~~~~
I am reminded today that no matter how much I love or care for my qualifiers, I can not hold that snow on that mountain.  I can only pray for them, get out of the way and work to maintain my own peace of mind.  The basics of our program is where I need to be, just for today.
Make it a great day everyone - happy Thursday!
Good Morning IAH, great reading. Thanks for taking the time to share your important experience, strength and hope.  I love the wisdom in the  quote  but must confess I have had great difficulity in implementing it.
I do know it is true that  "the suffering you are trying to ease may be the very thing  needed to bring the alcoholic to the realization of the seriousness of the situation  and it is literally a blessing in disguise."
Thanks for your service.
