New to group. I need help!

I'm new to the board. My 18 year old son is an addict. I carry so much guilt and question everyday where my little boy went and who this young man who shows no emotion is.

Aloha Shel and welcome to the board. He has made the decision to hang out with and practice what his peers
are doing. That is his crowd now and he is like them. Addiction has to have company and he is now a part of
it. Finding out where and when Al-Anon and Nar-Anon get together in your area is necessary or the disease will
drag you down also. There are daily meetings on this board too. Please make yourself available to all of our
experience strength and hope as that is what has kept us sane and serene whether the addict is still using or
not. ((((hugs))))

Welcome Shel I so understand your pain and confusion Alcoholism is a dreadful chronic progressive disease. Please do search out alanon face to face meetings and attend. Here you will receive the support and acceptance that you require in order to develop new constructive tools to live by.
There is hope and help

(((Shel))) - I too send you warm welcomes...so glad you found us and glad that you shared. I really relate to your post - 2 of my qualifiers are my children and it's been a long, tough, painful road. Recovery has saved my soul, my sanity and my life and for me, it did start with meetings.

My hope is you too will choose recovery - there is tons of help and support in Al-Anon. Keep coming back!
