The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
The C2C reading for November 20 speaks about the fact that Alcoholism tends to break the spirit of those who live with the disease . Al-Anon understands this and offers us fellowship so as to break the isolation, the connection with a sponsor so as to rebuild our ability to trust another and the 12 Steps and Traditions that allow us to heal.
The healing starts with restoring our spirit so that we can discard the negative fear of the God of other people's understanding and find the God of our "own understanding" so that the forgotten spirit within me (the God of my understanding )can restore me to my true self.
Today I make a sincere effort to role in the clover, kick up my heels and celebrate being alive. This is one way in which I can touch my God, and find the space within each day to celebration my spirit. We need to set our problems aside for a while and appreciate what it means to be lightly alive.
The quote is from George Bernard Shaw; "life is no brief candle to me. It is sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as bright as possible before handing it on to future generations."
This is indeed a powerful reflection that reminds me that life is for living and that having fun, relaxing and appreciating the beauty all around is an important part of my recovery process. Gratitude lists help me to focus on this.
Off to Church and then to watch the NY Football Giants hopefully win .
Thank you Betty for the daily, your service and as always - your ESH.....I have got some anxiety over the holiday this week which I am working on - projecting often/always gets me into trouble. I love that you and the reading remind me that life is for living and having fun, relaxing and appreciating the beauty around us is critical to my recovery...
My team lost today - bummer! I switched to other shows as I was frustrated by football - just for today.
Hope you had an awesome day - (((Hugs)))
