C2C 10-5-16 Think

Today's C2C addresses those times when we are down, feel lost, and everything we think of has a bad ending. Those times...

A tool AlAnon recommends trying is "Think". Not in the "continue to think about the negatives" way, but in the C2C p. 64 way: 1) Stop reacting, obsessing, worrying about the future. 2) Look at your role in what is going on, the limits, the (spiritual, program) possibilities. 3) Listen for spiritual direction.

If we are feeling overwhelmed, we can still change what we can: our perspective. Reaching out to fellow members at our AlAnon meeting and making a gratitude list are great ways to take our mind from our worries and refocus on the things we can be thankful for.

Reminder: Realigning long-felt negative feelings can be a challenge, but it is well worth our effort. Just for today, I can try replacing a negative outlook with a focus on the positives in my life.

"Sometimes I go about pitying myself And all the while I am being carried across the sky By beautiful clouds." ~ Ojibway Indian saying

*****************

I have been struggling lately with my mood, and I am reminded that I always have a choice. I have many things for which to be grateful, I just need to Think: Stop, Look, Listen. I am going to focus on something, I have much to gain by making the choice to focus on the (often overlooked) positives. Grateful for the reminder

Great page to meditate on Paul Thanks for your share as I can readily identify. Prior to alanon I did not think that I have choices I lived in my negative attitudes of anger, resentments, self pity and fear. I had brief moments of joy and happiness however they did not last as my go to attitudes quickly surfaced.

Thanks to alnon , the slognas, and principles I have been able to let go of my negative attitudes and they have been replace by serenity. This serenity allows me to be in the moment and experience life- the good, the bad and the ugly. I can feel the appropriate feelings for the situation and then slowly with tools go back to my serenity What a gift!!! Having choices is the best -- I will choose serenity any time.
Thanks for your service and have a great day

Paul - thank you for your ESH, service and the daily. Thanks to Betty and LU for your shares and ESH. I do like this page for meditating and reflecting. I can honestly admit that before recovery, I felt I was in a perpetual state of reaction, and rarely gave thought to much - just seemed to be putting out fires. So grateful that Al-Anon has given me the ability to pause and think more clearly and then plan, act, do, or not - great gift we've been given.

I too Paul have been in a bit of a strange place. I've got great things going on in my life and I've got other things going on in my life. I have been struggling with guilt over feeling joy in the midst of a few storms - which I know sounds crazy, but is where I am. I know, because of this program, that this too shall pass and have been doing more service work in the hopes of flipping some thinking. It's working, just not at the pace I would like.

I must remember when I am perplexed that there is a lesson and/or a miracle coming. I have my F2F meeting today and am grateful for that!

Make it a great day!

I'm beginning to think that today is my reminder day where to put my focus!!! I could QTIP, but to be honest I'm not going to because I'm enjoying the the feeling of seeing exactly what I need to see today!!

This morning as I drove into town my mind was stuck in a negative groove and the noise in my head was enough to 'wake me' and get me pondering about why my thoughts so often slip into that old groove, like a stylus playing a boring cracked record! I reminded myself that I could choose to think of something else, and that it was worth making the effort, that was my work in progress.

Since then MIP has gifted me with the image of a beautiful and well loved laundry basket. Thank you for that EIM! And then I discover beautiful clouds, and clear reminders in your topic today Paul!!! Thank you! Thank you world!!

Thanks hotrod, looking, IAH and milk for your thoughts and ESh, I always learn so much. I found success today keeping it simple, focusing on just one goal: when a negativish thought crept into my mind, stop it and find a positive to it, a reason to be thankful. It became a challenge throughout my day, I even managed a chuckle a time or two that I managed to find a positive in something that I could have turned into a half hour of frustration.

I am going to continue this as my focus for the remainder of the week, I could use the boost. I am reminded how effective the simple tools of AlAnon can be, and how important the fellowship is in sharing the journey. I hope you all had a positive day as you
