The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
My husband got into a one car (him) accident because of drinking and drugs. Lawyer finally got him into a rehab for 28 days and now I've got to handle everything
I'm so sorry you're in this situation. Have you found a local Al-Anon meeting? You'll find a room full of people who know just what it's like to go through this. I hope you'll keeo coming back here too. Hang in there.
Welcome to MIP Fifi - glad you found us and so glad that you shared. Sorry that you are living with the effects of the disease of alcoholism and are feeling perhaps overwhelmed. Alcoholism is a progressive disease that is never cured, but can be arrested through recovery and abstinence. It is considered a family disease as everyone in the family is usually affected in one way or another.
As part of his recovery, they will most likely recommend AA meetings. Al-Anon also exists for those who are struggling because of the drinking of another - family or friend. I too would suggest you seek out local meetings and attend a few. In those rooms, you will find other who fully understand what you are going through and how it is affecting you. They will allow you to share if you want to, and will listen without judgement and/or advice giving.
There are 2 meetings here each day as well. If you look to the top left, you'll see a link to the meeting times and the chat room. They are also helpful as well as literature and slogans and sponsorship and fellowship. While we who love or live with an alcoholic have no control over what they do/don't do, we can surely find a better way to act and react so our joy and sanity is restored.
You are not alone - please keep coming back!
