bad friend.

I am a flake. I don't know when this happened exactly, maybe it doesn't matter, but I dislike it. A very dear friend who I haven't seen for seven years...who wrote me a song when I left our country, well she's having major brain surgery tomorrow morning and her daughter, who grew up with my first sons, is in hospital now with a mystery illness. I knew about her surgery a month ago. I haven't been supportive. I let stupid anxiety get in the way and thought of her every day without reaching out until now. I have always been crap at sending things. I buy them then dont send them. This habit stops today. This numb frozen ness has to go. I'm not 10 years old anymore, lord above! Thanks for letting me make this commitment to myself before you all.

Great decision 41. Take the action and let go of the results. Positive thoughts and prayers on the way.
I made a similar decision many years ago and have stuck to it with no regrets.

Kudos to you for writing about it and committing to taking action! I agree with Betty - take action and let God handle the rest. I will add your friend and her daughter to my prayers.

I have been a flake before too. I always have this idea that as I know better, I can do better. We can't ever change the past, so no need to dwell on it.

Your share resonates a lot with me. I was that person too. Thankful to say I was able to restore my broken relationship. I hope you are able to do the same, God willing. Or let go if needs be.

Glad you wrote out your thoughts.

Hey I was a flake too, its part of this disease, it keeps us isolated and ashamed and self absorbed and so we dont have what it takes to be a friend to anyone. Becoming a good friend has came with my progress in alanon, the less isolated I became, the less self absorbed I became the more open and honest and friendly and my friends were right there where they had always been and I can see them now and be there, im much more emotionally available now. Good for you, put it down to another gift since the denial has lifted.x
