So next weekend, for our birthday, His majesty and I had planned a weekend away and I was feeling worried as he has been drunk/irritable and has mentioned 50-60 times that he plans to "have a few drinks".
Anyway since he has kept saying we can 'go wherever I want" I decided today that on the off-chance he gets drunk and I don't want to deal, I want us to be somewhere with lots of people and not in some cabin in the woods as we had planned originally. So it dawned on me that there's this particular theatre-restaurant we've been talking about going to for ages. I suggested we go there for dinner, spare no expense on dinner and then crash at a cheap hotel in the city. This is perfect because a)if he gets drunk the day before and bails I can just take someone else and b) if things go pear shaped it's a short trip to go and stay at my mothers. He's happy with it, I'm happy with it, everybody's happy. Hooray for solutions.
