Hello! I am Connie Sue. I first walked into the rooms of Al-Anon on April 3, 1995. I cried my first two years and was not sure of what I was getting myself into as it seemed that most everyone was happy! After deciding to get a sponsor, I took a leap of faith with beginning to learn and use the 12-Steps, I now know that having unconditional love was something that I'd craved my whole life and finally found it in these rooms. Twenty-one years later, has found me working as a sponsor myself and revisiting the newbie days. During the past five years I volunteered to be the Group Representative of my home group and 1 and 1/2 years ago, I was asked to be the new District Representative for my area and accepted. Yes, it was disconcerting at first and took me out of my comfort zone, but now I know that not only am I learning about the autonomy of other AFGs in my district, I am learning that service work is a key component of growth in Al-Anon. I have actually made some new Al-Anon friends and we know that we share similar, yet different lives in Al-Anon. I enjoy sharing my Experience, Strength, and Hope with others as I still receive a lot of ESH from listening to others in my home group and in other groups. I hope that I will be able to receive at this online group and give as well!
Howdy Connie Sue - welcome to MIP! Glad you found us and joined in - looking forward to sharing this journey with you!!

Welcome, Connie Sue! I've just begun a service stint as an alternate GR myself, and went to my second area Assembly a few weeks ago. Talk about seeing recovery in action!
