Courage to Change Reading 5-28

The C2C reading for May 28th,  speaks about  the habit of "comparing" which often leads to finding "ourselves lacking" and  therefore to  despairing. The reading goes on to say the only valid comparison we should make  is to compare ourselves from yesterday  to who we are today.

We look at how we were last month, how we reacted and then look at ourselves today and  how we are no  longer " reacting" and  have learned how to stop and  respond   and not react.

. Looking back, we can look at many examples of the Grace of a Higher Power, working in our lives  and we can see the progress of being restored to sanity. As we become increasingly confident that progress will continue.

The quote is from M Babcock: "our business in life is not to get ahead of other people, but to get ahead of ourselves."

I Love this reminder  Compare and despair was my go to means of communication and form of evaluating myself.  . How happy I am to stop comparing  myself to others and now identify with them and stop the destructive  tool of despairing.

Hi Betty

I want to thank you for everything you do daily to help others. Your support for so many here and in your personal life has made this world a better place for so so many.

The Courage to Change. What a great title......I will never forget when I finally reversed my thinking and took the plunge to change. The work it took to change my thinking and still do right by my son.

The Courage to Change is something my son also embraced in his life and has make great strides. He is doing well.

Great little book everyone.....daily reading is a must

((( hugs )))

((Catherine))) So great to hear from you. Thank you for your kind words. As you know, this is a fellowship of equals and we who share our ESH benefit as much as the person to whom we share.
It does work if we work it. Thanks for sharing the journey.

Always getting ahead of myself & hurrying. I am so grateful that I am what I am now & not what I used to be. Thanks for this reading Betty! I will remember to not compare myself to others today. Great reading!

Thank you, I needed to hear that today.

I love the comparing leads to despairing. Gosh - that has been true for me - whenever I believe the grass appears greener on the other side of the fence, it can spiral down from there. I am grateful the program taught me that comparing how I feel on the inside to what others show on their outside is not apples to apples, but rather apples to oranges.

Thank you Betty for the ESH & the daily!
