I've had insomnia issues for years. Anxiety is a big trigger, but sometimes I don't feel anxious about anything and still can't sleep. Right now I know its because I'm excited and anxious about seeing pictures of my daughter. I've barely slept for the past 4 nights in a row. Something's gotta give. I'm surprised I haven't been hit with a major migraine yet.
Anyone know anything good for helping you sleep? Benadryl helps, but leaves me sluggish in the morning. Sometimes sleepytime tea helps, but it hasn't been lately. I need something that will put me to sleep without messing up my ability to function the next day. I'm really sensitive to all forms of medication so it all hits me really hard.
I like listening to meditation music or even camp fire or rain sounds- youtube has like 10 hour long loops of these. That's my emergency sleep fix. Or a really boring audio book.

I take a magnesium supplement called Natural Calm. It really relaxes me and helps me dose off. It has many many benefits, and I need the magesium anyway for my heart now. I tend to wake up around 2-3am lately, and I usually listen to some YouTube meditations and fall right back to sleep.

Melatonin has helped me. Also, taking a warm bath before bed...not a hot one, just a warm one. Also, there are some aromatherapy candles and sprays you can try. I also agree with the relaxing music and sounds. I hope that helps.

I'm glad you got some sleep! I made some prayer beads and they help me sleep - holding each bead and taking a deep slow breath, then moving on to the next one and doing the same thing, helps me relax and sleep. The physical connection with touching the bead helps me stay focused and not listen to the voices in my head telling all the things I need to worry about. Sometimes I use the beads to list what I'm grateful for, sometimes I use each bead to pray for someone, or to release a situation into God's hands. I use them different ways, and it's gotten so sometimes even just holding the string of beads helps me relax.
