Where I used to live, in Melbourne, there was this man- Robin- that everyone called "the dancing man". He was this grinning, skinny old dude wearing headphones and he would stand on the corner outside a hotel doing this crazy dance!! He was awesome, there was a tram and bus stop right there where he stood (It was a very busy intersection) and people would chat to him all day long. He was an icon; I adored him, a really lovely guy who just decided to spend his days dancing to music no-one else could hear!! You'd get carloads of asses throwing cans at him sometimes etc and he just ignored them and kept grinning and dancing, he was unstoppable.
Anyway he died a few years ago, and a lot of people turned up for the service which was awesome as he hadnt had any family as I understand it, (There had been another guy with no family, homeless because he was shizophrenic and refused to live anywhere, and thousands of people turned up to the park he slept in and held a service for him too which was awesome, it was a nice community, that was beautiful). Anyway. My brother just posted a link to a news article from one of the big radio stations around here, with a video of Robyn dancing, and then a video of this huge mural they've done of him on the wall of the hotel, and hundreds of people squashed onto the footpath doing his crazy dance. Tears in my eyes, I have to make a trip to go and see it now.
I'm sharing this because I get very negative about people and the state of the world and things like this remind me that people can also be amazing and wonderful and the way Robin just expressed his joy and danced to his own music without a care in the world and attracted so much love and made so many people smile really makes me want to be more like that, and less insular and cut off from people (which I really am). So, I don't know how, but I'm going to put a picture of the mural on my desktop to remind me that somehow, I want to use my life to create more happiness and less negativity.

Thanks MissMel for the lovely share and story! He danced his way to his tune - love that he spread sho much joy and happiness. Great story and a reminder to just keep on dancing!!

It's just another example of one man's junk is another man's treasure.
While people who could appreciate, understand, and enjoy what he was doing, there were others who didn't understand him. That's so prevalent in our world. We can either appreciate, understand and enjoy everything that is around us, or we can misunderstand it, judge it, and try to squash it.
What a beautiful picture you have placed in my mind. I kind of want to be a "Robin". I would love to dance on a corner and let the world go by. He most likely faced a lot of turmoil in his life, but he chose to share joy. Good for him.
