So I had been planning all week to go out with a gal I used to work with at my old job and we try to get together about once every other week. We haven't been able to get together over the last couple of weeks. We met up at a really neat place I want to take the kids to, pool, bowling and so on, flat fee and they play forever kind of deal. Honestly those kids would have petered out LONG before we did. I was under the impression thanks to my friend it was open until 2AM so you can imagine our surprise at 12AM when the lights went off. We were really in rare form the two of us, we managed to talk the folks into opening the kitchen one last time for us. I had the wait staff so messed up not on purpose, my girlfriend was highly amused and just watched the antics a bit looks at me and says oh yes .. we are so doing this again. This is the first time her and I really cut loose. Needless to say I wasn't working today. She's a single mom like I am and is someone who doesn't blow off people because she's in a relationship. I really love that about her because it reminds me to stay grounded no matter what. She had kids later in life so her kids are younger than mine however she faces similar challenges in terms of doing the single mom with kids who are younger where she is older.
I tried to get them to let us stay while they cleaned up .. lol .. that didn't workout, we did manage to find a Waffle House and continued the antics there until about 430AM. So saying I was coming in while others were getting up to go to work is a true story and I can't tell you the last time I did that, I mean I think it was over 20 years ago before children, before marriage. It was sooo much fun to just sit talk, laugh, flirt with other people and we just had a really good time. I haven't had a friend like this since I left IL. I'm so incredibly grateful too. She's in accounting .. LOL .. ALL of my best girlfriends are accountants .. LOL. The kids got up today and my daughter asked me what time I got home and I'm always honest about what time .. when I said 445AM she about fell out (I had text her earlier and told her I was going to be late I just didn't say how late and thankfully they were sleeping hard when I got home) .. eyeballs popped out of her head .. my son was laughing as well.
The funniest thing about it all is that again .. I can't tell you the last time I did something like that and what I REALLY like about this gal is she's not someone who will drop friends because she has a boyfriend. She's a few years younger than me and was floored I was setting the pace in terms of I was like the ever-ready bunny and I was ready to keep going. She couldn't believe I had worked all day been up for over 24 hours at this point. I was still ready to go .. about 415AM I was getting to be done and thankfully not far from home .. LOL. The poor Waffle House staff very sweet group of guys made sure we had everything we needed and we were literally the only people in there when we left. LOL!
There is life after the many challenges that are faced throughout the years and even though everything is not smooth sailing .. I'm not stressing about the same things I used to or maybe they have a changed perceptive. I am grateful for that part of the deal. I'm way grateful for the good friends I have met and hoping to meet more.

Oh yay for friends, I've been making some lately too and it's wonderful.
What you've done- pick up and start over somewhere else...is so brave and I'm really glad that some of it gets to be fun because I know so much has been really hard.

(((S))) - sounds way too fun!!! So glad you've found a buddy to hang with and a real friend! I did a mini-road trip Wednesday night and met up with my gals from High School for dinner. We had a blast and we all expressed then and since how grateful we are for each other. I would rather have a few great friends than a room full of acquaintances. It sounds like you two are a hoot and a half together - enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!

Ohhh I am so not in my 20's anymore .. LOL .. I was doing really well until about 430PM ironically and I looked at my son and said Boy .. I am so done for the day .. my body and brain said ok .. we are retiring for the night. I woke up once to tell the kids to go to bed and then I don't remember anything until 530AM .. LOL .. now I'm ready to play again .. LOL.
We are already making plans to do it again .. LOL! Definitely not on a work day.
I totally agree a room full of acquaintances is so overrated .. anyone can do that .. I've been back to my pool hall recently and had such a nice time .. there were guys there who remembered me and said hi ... that was a little scary .. LOL .. it's been months .. that's nice to have someone remember you like that .. it's different than just really getting to know someone on a really open and honest level .. priceless.

against antis for me and its really only situational.
I signed up for meet ups they do things together
Have not gone yet. I went yesterday with a friend
