Hope for Today Mar 15

Good morning everyone-

Today's reading opens with a description of a dream in which the writer is surfing in huge and unrelenting waves. In the dream the writer's HP is waiting at shore to protect the surfer each time a new wave carries him in. The writer interprets the dream in this way: the ocean is life itself, the treacherous waves are difficult situations that are part of life, the surfboard is the alanon slogans which have been supplied by the HP.

I love this reading, as a young girl i grew up just a few miles from the ocean and feel a strong connection to it. Thinking of waves as the situations we make our way through is a helpful image. There are certainly times I have felt situations I am facing feel as though they are coming at me in waves; I am so grateful to have the help and tools of the program to navigate through waters when I feel I'm in over my head.

For me, this reading is another reminder that our HP gives us everything we need. I turn to that thought anytime I am feeling overwhelmed.

I will never be able to look at today's date without remembering my sophomore year in high school, when we studied Julius Caesar "beware the ides of March!"

I hope you all enjoy a wonderful Tuesday!

Mary

Hi Mary, Thanks for sharing your thoughts on today's reading in HFT. I do love the analogy and agree that I have often felt as if life was like the ocean (scary at times).--Since finding program, I am delighted to have alanon slogans, steps, meetings to help me navigate successfully within that ocean. The image of HP at the shore is so reassuring.

The Ides of March is a great reminder to me to not discount that "Still small voice within" that whispers gently to me .
Have a good day.

Thank you Mary! Nice reminder here today. God is with us through all those waves of life. I like the saying also: Am I going with the tide today or struggling against it. When I'm struggling against it, it brings me to the thought of self-will instead of God's will.

Mike-

That's a great point. In my willfulness I have finally started to notice those feelings of anxiety. As I turn it over to God that's when I experience serenity

Lovely share and great daily. Thank you Mary for your service and to all who shared their ESH above me.

Today is my active son's birthday. I went to bed kind of sad as he rejected all that I suggested for celebrating. He actually got snippy with me about it. I took it personally and my heart was heavy when I went to sleep. However, I woke this morning feeling renewed and and at peace. My HP restored my heart as I slept and no matter what today brings, I believe I will get through it and be OK.

This reading remind me of that. So long as I put my will to the side and surrender to God's will for me, I can have peace no matter what's going on around me.

Thank you Al-Anon and thank you MIP family!!
