He listened!

Well, he went to his bible study and found an intervention instead! Just one of the guys, but he is in his 70's and his father was an alcoholic, and his son is struggling too. Learned about others in the home church that are struggling with various things. Drugs, porn, food. Anyway, he will be going to a group at the church called never alone. And eventually AA meetings. This  guy is going to sponcer him.

He came home, and said "Well, from now on, I'm an alcoholic" he teared up when he said it for a min , but he SAID it! And he has a plan, and someone to help him see it through, and I am sure more of the guys (from church) will fall in with it. Still not holding my breath. I guess I am just used to that, but it's different this time. Lots of prayers. He also poured all his alcohol down the drain. I hope this is the first day of a new and better life for him and us!

Good to hear that TOI! Now you can keep working on your recovery since he is taking charge of his own, keep coming back. Have you gone to any F2F meetings?

I believe the hardest part for my AH was actually saying those words out loud. It is so important that they realize that they are not alone in this and that there are others that are struggling with addiction. Please set your expectations to a realistic level. It took my AH a few months of AA to stop drinking. He hadn't hit his low when he started but it is such a big step just getting through the door. I am so happy for you and your family.

TOI - super news - thanks so much for sharing! I too hope that you'll kick-start or continue your Al-Anon efforts so you can recover as he goes along his journey. (((Hugs))) to you both!
