New to this - 2 meetings in one day?

I'm totally new to this, and haven't found a home group or sponsor yet.  I've had an extremely hard day, and feel like I need to try and listen to as many stories for help as I can.

There are two meetings in my area that are close in proximity and timed right.  Is there any benefit to trying to go to both?

Help is appreciated.  It's been a very lost and tearful day.

I have.  I would often go to a lunch time meetings and then attend an evening one on my way home.   It really helped.

Let us know how it goes

You can always go to the first one and make your decision from there. You may gather strength from the first one, or you may find it so cathartic that you don't have the energy to do a second.

The first meeting I've been to. The second is new. I feel like I need some friendly faces around me, I wasn't planning on going to the first one originally.

Thanks, I'll go to the first one and see how I feel after that. Today has been a very tearful, lonely day. I keep running through my mind "you can't go to the hardware store to buy bread"...the person I want to talk to most is my ABF, and I know he can do nothing about how I feel. It would just make matters worse.

I have gone to 2 meetings in one day very often especially when I was new to Al-anon. F2F meetings would calm me like nothing else. I found a noon meeting and then would go to one in the evening. The more meetings you go to I have been told the quicker you head toward recovery...

There are days in my recovery where I have gone to 2 or more. If that's what it took to help me understand my lack of sanity and lack of control, that's what I was told to do and did....

It's your journey and your recovery - go as often as you can - go as often as you want!

Please let us know how it goes!

When I entered the rooms of Al-Anon I was told the best method was 90-90 or 90 meetings in 90 days.  Fortunately I got into recovery in an area that has 439 combined meetings in a month and was able to do 102 meetings in a 90 day period of time....It works when you work it...very well.  Going with an open mind and listening to all of the shares and the fellowship is a God send.   ((((hugs)))) smile

I have one on one counciling, my f2f meeting and fellowship time after the meeting all in one day. It is a nice pause in my week, a time to focus on myself. I hadn't heard the 90/90 suggestion before. I will think about making that happen.

I went to both meetings, and very glad I did. I didn't really realize, until I walked into my first room, when someone welcomed me back, how comforting it would be. I was instantly calmer, and I didn't feel like crying for the first time that day.

I was able to listen to the words that people were sharing, and share a little of my own - even though I have only been doing this less than two weeks. My first share was just being thankful that they were there. My second share at the second meeting I was able to open up a little more, and it was freeing to be able to voice the words.

I can't believe I didn't know about this earlier. It took the current recovering alcoholic in my life to point out what was going on with me - to realize that I've been going through these things my whole life. Things are not good between he and I right now because we're both in recovery and need to figure things out. But I feel so much better knowing that there is hope and help.

Thank you so much everyone. One day at a time...

For me more meetings=more better. Immersion in all the resources, face-to face meetings, this board, lots of one on one talks with members and reading the reading materials keeps me present in my program and responding better to situations.

I came seeking answers and after some valuable listening time, I am thankfully finding my own solutions.

Keep coming back!
