for years I have tried to help him quit,I finally realize that is just not going to happen,I have 3 kids with him.i am hurt,I am not he same person that I once was and I hate it,I feel like I let his actions, his addiction change me in a way I'm no longer happy with my life or myself, and I hate that.I need to help myself.i have looked around and bought me the al anon book for myself and I want to start working the steps,it is hard for me to go to meetings,so I would like to have someone who has been thru this help me work on the steps....thank you
Welcome Florph--- You are a wise person. Living with the disease of alcoholism does change us!! I found I was filled with anger, resentment, self pity and fear and could not dislodge these painful feelings from my inner being - Alanon meetings and tools helped that.
We have on-line meetings here, and if no one responds to your request for a sponsor on this Board -I suggest you visit the on line meeting and check.
here is the web addy and schedule

Schedule
Meetings 9 AM EST Mon-Fri 9 PM EST Mon-Sat 10 AM EST Sat & Sun 7 PM EST Sunday
We do work the Steps individually on the Step Board and you are welcome to read up there and share your thoughts as well.
Welcome Florph! Glad to have you here with us. Yes, Alcoholism/Addiction certainly changes us and everyone it comes into contact with. We lose ourselves in all the chaos and drama. We come here to re-discover ourselves and put our life back on the right track. Keep coming back! Together WE get well, alone we stay sick.
Florph - I too welcome you to MIP....glad you found us and glad you shared! I do understand that getting to F2F (face to face) meetings is not easy for everyone.....some around here meet over the lunch hour to help with busy schedules, and yet others have daycare. I am fortunate to live in a larger metro area. I can say that online is awesome but in the F2F, I found tons of close-by program friends that will carry me when I am overwhelmed! I would do anything possible to get involved locally - it's been a gift beyond words that I cherish and rely upon often.
So glad you joined us - you are not alone. We've all been negatively affected by this disease but there is hope in the fellowship! Keep coming back!

Good morning florph. I, too, am glad you found this site. www.naranon.com/board/index.php This is a naranon online site, as well, if you would like to check it out. I just thought I'd through that out there! I agree. You are not alone. I'm glad you are with us
