Snow Beautiful Snow (accept what you can't change?)

Snow is falling, school is cancelled, my cold is letting up so I could sleep last night. Got up this morning, shoveled the porch, did the dishes (no apologies for being a morning dish-doer!) and practicing patience trying to watch a show on my Roku box that has to keep reloading every two minutes. I may give up on the Roku for the morning and go shovel somewhere just because it feels good to do it.

Snow, weather - happens and no matter how much we fuss and bother, we can't change it, can't stop it, can't do anything but accept that we are powerless to do anything.

Well, maybe not powerless in what attitude to take towards it - I am choosing to adopt the child's attitude - yay no school, I'm going to go out and play in it!

I wish all things were this simple to identify my powerlessness over.

LikemyHeart  Thanks for your wisdom.  I do love the reminder that I do have power--Power over my own attitudes and thoughts.  Great way to live

 Love the above

LikemyHeart  Thanks for your wisdom I do

Nice example of utilizing The Program.  I remember last Winter talking with my Sponsor about the weather.  It was a cold and snowy winter(NH).  He reminded me not only of Acceptance but honoring the truth(reality).  He said you live in NH and it's the end of January.......  What do you expect?  biggrin

He now lives in Florida.  If it was cold and snowy in Florida for a consistent period of time.....  we'd have a problem........smile

Mike I love that concept! hadn't heard it put that way before - honoring the truth/reality! Thanks!

Betty I think accepting my part in anything is one of the greatest, most often used tools I've gained from Al-Anon!

I'm in KS, and it's December......we've been blessed this year with warmer than usual weather for a long, long time. I am so grateful for the reprieve from the winter. I do know that it's coming - and....expected for where I live. I typically do what you're doing likemyheart - enjoy it and hunker down until the roads are clear.

I love looking at the snow. It's very pretty. I don't like driving in it much - and try to not. I could live without the super cold temperatures, but we don't have that for too long. So - I live where there are 4 seasons and could easily be happy where there are only 3!! Someone let me know where I should go!

Great post and great acceptance LMH! (((Hugs)))
