Courage to Change reading 11-21

The C2C reading for today speaks about living life on  life's terms. it points out that when we first arrive in alanon, we think we only have one problem- which is that of   Living with the disease of alcoholism.

As  we continue  to attend program, we grow and change and believe that since  we have such powerful tools, we will no longer encounter problemsin life.  When we do we are surprised that even with Program we have not been able to avoid the difficulties in life .

The reading reminds us that alanon does not take away problems, but gives us the courage and insight to turn  stumbling blocks into stepping stones

Quote is from H W Beecher :"Troubles are often the tools by which God fashions us for better things "
I  have often smiled at the above quote  and said" I do  wish that HP would stop fashioning me I am tired"

The truth is that with these alanon tools: of acceptance of life on life's terms,  placing principles above personalities , examining my motive, trusting HP as I live one day at a time, life is manageable I have the courage, wisdom and serenity to continue to grow..

I am grateful that the program has allowed me to learn that the disease is only one area of my life that needed improvement/repair/new approach.

I do love the quote - it's so point on for your journey!

Thank you Betty for a lovely share and your service...
