Courage to Change 11-14

The C2C reading for November 14. talks about Step Six and being "entirely ready to have God remove all our defects of character".

It suggests that this entire readiness does not appear  in a single  flash of light, but instead, as we struggle to make progress we become ready a little at a time.

I always felt I made myself entirely ready by continuing to attend Al-Anon meetings, read my literature, praying, calling my sponsor, supporting other alanon members and being honest, open and willing each day .  These simple recovery tools enabled me to shed many of my negative attitudes and embrace HP as well as other healthy beliefs. Unknown to me I was also making myself entirely ready.

The reading points out that this Step. Step six is a lesson in patience.  As we see our life opening up and  watch how our defects, hurt us,  we finally become ready to have God remove all of our defects.

The quote is from Alateen One Day at a Time:". Step Six is my chance to cooperate with God. My goal is to make myself ready to let go of my faults and let God take care of the rest"

This is  a powerful Step As I watched my defects being lifted I was continually astonished to find that my attitudes and responses were filled with empathy, compassion ,and understanding  instead of my usual  judgment, anger and control.  Love this program .Thank you HP

I simply felt ready, without battling the what if's and what I wanted

and did not have, therefore I was much more receptive.

Recovery for me is a journey - and I am grateful there are no pass/fail steps! I needed every experience and those yet to happen to learn and have this journey be and mean the most.

I thought I was ready to have my defects lifted, but found that when push comes to shove, I still at times tend to want to control/have my will. It's a crazy sidestep as my will got me entrenched in this disease so deeply that I was lost to the disease as much if not more so than my As.

So grateful that my journey of recovery includes 'do-overs'. I am always grateful when I see that I am left of center and can regroup and return to the recovery path with the help of my HP.

Not only does Step 6 give me freedom from my defects of character, it readies me for all the gifts yet to be seen from working on me with the tools of this program!

Thanks Betty for the daily! Grateful you all are a part of my journey!
