Courage to Change 11-13

The C2C reading for November 13 speaks about the idea that" things that are urgent" are rarely important, and things are important for rarely urgent. 01 This is a very interesting observation I know I prior to alanon used to run about like
"Chicken Little " sure that the "Sky was falling" every day.

The reading also suggests  that we can get caught up in trivial matters of day-to-day life and to forget to take time for more important pursuits

First things first to point us in the direction of prayer, maintaining our serenity in our connection with a HP, gratitude and asset lists. These  should be our first things first.

The quote is from David Thoreau, "let us then spend one day as deliberately as nature and not be thrown off the track by every nutshell, and mosquitoes that falls on the rails."

Love how this reading identifies the "things we should consider as first things.  I would add the Serenity prayers and Third Step prayer when I open my eyes  so that the day is begun in humble surrender to HP

Betty, thank you for your service and your share; great reminders. Before I found AlAnon, I certainly was planted firmly in the 'easily sidetracked' group, so often focused intently and unhealthily on things that in the long run, mattered little. I failed to see the most important issue: my role in my own insanity.

The program is helping me make progress every day, and I feel such an incredible difference. Today's ODAT complimented this page nicely as a way to narrow my focus using daily meditation. Many powerful tools placed within our reach, all I have to do is grab hold and consistently use the ones that work for me. Very grateful for the program and the helpful reminders...

Thank you Betty - what a great reading.....I am starting to fret a bit about my parents coming to visit in a month - because there is always still a part of me that seeks approval. What's truly important is what I choose to do today for my growth and recovery. Everything else will fall into place when I just do the next right thing and trust God, my HP.

Happy Friday to one and all!

Kinda like "Don't sweat the small stuff", there is more important matters
that may require our attention.  smile
