One Day At A Time Quotes ~ Peace of Mind ~ 11/11/15

Have you noticed that when you react too emotionally to a situation, even an unjustified verbal attack, it really can make you sick, with actual physical symptoms?  Al-Anon has taught me to keep my own well being in mind; I try to detach when the storm clouds of tension and temper appear.  This is healthy thinking the Al-Anon way.  I promise myself that I will close my mind to what I hear and see when it tempts me to quarrel or resent.  I will try to receive anger with gentleness to guard my peace of mind.  I will stop and THINK before I speak and remember the source(s) and stay detached.

Great tool Thanks for the reminder. Not reacting but taking the time to "respond" with courtesy and respect has worked wonders in all my interactions. Thanks for the topic

Thanks Deb, I consider this a real gift to myself. What a huge difference it has made to my life to remind myself to simply stop and breath before responding to difficulties.
Old me would EXPLODE at the slightest confrontation and then shake and feel ashamed for a long time afterwards, turning any issue into my fault regardless of the circumstances.
So happy to know a better way now!
