Nov 3 Hope for Today

Good Morning everyone!

Today's reading is about serenity.  Like the writer, I also used to consider serenity as an 'outward' and elusive destination.  I always thought it sounded great but I don't think I believed I could ever feel it--- then I started doing the inward work that I needed to do.  The quote from the reading is 'serenity is a matter of inner stability'. The writer adds that once the focus is kept on self and HP is trusted for the rest, although there may still seem to be disorder at times on the outside, because the inner stability is in place there is a place for serenity as well.

The writer refers to 'internal inspections'-- I love that phrase-- meaning program work such as weekly meetings, regular talks w sponsor, taking frequent personal inventories.  All of this internal work is crucial if there is to be a feeling of serenity on the outside. I know that personally I feel most serene when I am doing what I need to for myself on the inside.

The thought for the day from the reading is: "Staying focused on my journey of recovery, plus turning the outside world over to God, equals serenity."

Today I will work on staying focused on my journey and turning it over to HP-- I wish you all serenity on this day and the days that follow :)

Thank you Mary for todays reading. Serenity is such an important, emotional level

and seems to be that golden ring to grasp hold of in the Al-anon program. I reach my

level of serenity when I remind myself that there is so much to be grateful for.

I am grateful to Al-anon, HP and MIP.

Thanks Mary Loved the explanation of Serenity as being achieved and maintained by pursuing" inner inspections " Meetings, prayer etc.
I know when I first thought about the word "serenity" I felt that it might be a "boring "place as I was so addicted to chaos.

I did the work , and after many hours of "inner inspections," I experienced the fleeting feeling of serenity. It was fantastic and one I had never had before . The inner peace , calm and wholeness were so worth any effort that I decided never to surrender my serenity to anyone or anything again.

Thank you alanon. What a gift!!

Mary -

Thanks for the daily and your ESH! This is an awesome reflection - reminding us to stay in the moment/day, work on ourselves, turn the outer stuff over to HP/God and achieve the once elusive serenity!!!

The thought for the day is a perfect, perfect reminder and meditation line for me. When I am doing what is suggested, I am so much more peaceful and able to deal and chill as needed.

Best wishes back @ ya for serenity and peace all day!

(((Hugs))) to all!
