Courage to Change Thoughts for 11-1

C2C   reading for today  focuses on the "racing irrational thoughts" that swirl about within our mind over and over without stop.  These  racing,  obsessive thoughts are evidence that we can not see clearly what is truly going on and that we must first quiet our minds before taking any actions. We can do this by: talking to an alanon friend,  going to a meeting or simply reciting the serenity prayer, or a slogan.  All  these tool work wonders to create serenity and peace within.   Once our minds have quieted we can hear the directions of the still   small voice within.

The quote is from Blaise Pascal  :" All of men's miseries derive from not being able to sit  quiet in a room ,alone"

Reading the above quote I was heartened because it reminded me that I am "human " and not defective.  Alanon assured me that if I worked hard and  I used simple tools, I could change my reactions and obsessions

Great news all around

Thanks Betty - today's reading sure sounds like me. I remember the first time I went through the C2C, I was amazed that all the irrational crazy thoughts, actions and events I had experienced were not unique to me....what a gift to learn that others had felt as I did and processed as I did and that they found solutions and relief. I seriously arrived to the program feeling as if I was so alone and that others would not understand and ...... - irrational and non-stop negative chaotic thinking was the normal and it was difficult to find peace in that space between my ears - A/K/A my brain.

Finding quiet time in my head was not an easy task, but meetings were 'it' for me. When I first arrived, and just focused on that meeting for that hour and what was being said or read, I found I could stop those racing thoughts. And then as I began to believe I could find some peace in the program, those focused moments expanded.

I am so grateful for the gifts of this program. My days have changes from moments of clarity, peace and serenity to moments of chaos, drama and racing thoughts. Through this program and the steps, I've been able to change it around, and that's a Miracle in Progress and a relief!!

Thank you Betty for today's C2C reading. I have learned, and for the
most part it works, to take a step back and look around me, in the
midst of emotional turmoil, and appreciate all that I have instead of
what I do not have. Thank you Al-anon.
