Hi everyone. My ah who I have been separated since July has been attended celebrate recovery, a therapist, a psychologist and has been sober about a month seems to be trying and every time I think that is finally it he comes back around and says he has found a network and he is hopeful that he will say the course this time. I just don't want to be disappointed again or yet anymore. Does anyone know what the difference between CR and AA? Is there a better success rate with CR? Should I still have hope and one more chance? Is there a chance to have happiness with an recovering alcoholic. We know he will stay at another house for a year. I just don't know. There has been so much hurt.
Aloha Help Angel...he's going for help and with others who know how to get and stay sober their way. Celebrate Recovery here is a church program and the church is very attached to it. The members are members of a religious organization first and foremost with recovery from addiction next. AA on the other hand is not attached to any other organization as is stated in the traditions I don't know if there are traditions as such in CR groups...maybe another family member knows and can respond. Hope he stays sober for his own life. ((((hugs))))
I don't know statistical numbers it's like any 12 step program you are going to get out of it what you put in. There were members of alanon who also also did celebrate recover and it is a Christian based program. It's kind of neat my understanding is groups are bade based upon what the issues are. I actually have a celebrate recovery bible and love it because they have stories of real people and their esh at the start of each bible book. They offer sponsorship and fellowship to people. My x tried it however .. In his case nothing changed and I do not believe he's still active in the program. I tend to agree out doesn't matter what program is used finding recovery is far more important. Hugs.

(((HelpAngel))) - I too believe that any effort at recovery is a great next step no matter what program is selected. As far as how it affects you and your future, nobody knows as we don't have a crystal ball.
For me, and my recovery, the best Al-Anon lesson I have learned is that I can be happy and have peace in my life if I choose to put me first. My happiness matters, my needs matter and I will never put another person's actions, recovery, happiness, future, etc. in front of my own. I am a more loving person when I work on me. I am a more patient, tolerant and pleasant person when I change me. The program has given me the gift of self-love, which gives me the strength to know that whatever comes next, I can choose happiness.
Best to you and your recovery today! Keep coming back - we're here for ya!
