Thought for Today ~ Punishment ~ 10/21/15

Nobody has given me the right to punish anyone for anything;

"Vengeance in mine, faith the Lord."  Therefore any attempt at

retaliation for an injury can only react unhappily on me. "In

nature there are neither rewards nor punishments--there are

consequences."  ~ (Robert G. Ingersoll)

Happy Hump Day!  smile

Thanks Debbie,
It has taken me many years to ,"Accept" that everything just is and that in Nature there is neither rewards or punishments.

I never practiced "Getting even" or "vengance" literally . I did however manufacture terrible scenes in my head of getting even and having vengeance. I believe that these destructive thoughts are just as harmful to my spiritual health as the actual action

The 5, 6 and 7th Step helped me to let go of these negative attitudes. Thank you alanon

Thanks Debb for the post/daily! I also wasn't one who chased revenge - I just beat myself up over allowing someone to use me, take advantage of me or the famous, "How could I be so stupid?"

My acceptance of life on life's terms had to start with me. My own perceptions (warped), my own actions/reactions (over-stated, inappropriate) need to be owned so change can begin.

So - I didn't project revenge, plan revenge or seek revenge. I was so stuck in hurt that the anger was secondary. Having said that, I did have knowledge from the 'other side' that resentments are the number 1 issue for recovering people, so worked hard to release anger before it became resentments.

Hope Hump Day was awesome for all - I had a busy, busy day!!
