Just for Today ~ Prayer ~ 10/9/15

PRAYER FOR TODAY Lord make me an instrument of Thy Peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith; where is despair, hope; where there is

darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O, Divine Master,

grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console.;

to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is

in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Wishing you {{all}} a peaceful day.

Debb - a wonderful day back to you! Love this prayer and boy howdy....it seems to summarize in a an easy format my blueprint for daily living. It took me a while in the program to realize that true peace of mind comes to me when I am working to be of service and of value - contributing to instead of taking from or draining.

I am so grateful to be at home today with just a few 'to-dos'....I've not yet totally got my arms around the emotional ride having a new grand-baby has brought to me. When my first grandson was born, my AS and I were not on speaking terms - I had been shut out. This time, I've been included the entire time and it's been such a gift to be of service.

Baby and mom came home yesterday. I was blessed to be the 'driver' and get them home, in, settled and comfortable. I then also got to pick up the 2 year old, and bring him home to see/meet baby Gus in their home. He was trying to share his apple with the baby - I almost cried with joy.

It's been a busy, emotional, crazy week - but all 'happy chaos'. I'll take this any day, every day over the crazy, drama filled days of active addiction.

If I choose joy, I give joy.
If I choose anger, I give anger.
If I choose peace, I bring peace.

This prayer and our own choices give us the power to determine how each moment of each day can be. While we are powerless over the disease, we are not powerless over how we choose to embrace life, people, places, things and events. I am so, so grateful for MIP, Al-Anon and each day I am given. So many gifts, so little time - :) !!
