(((Debb))) I am sorry to state that this is another slogan that I cannot use. I feel it implies that I am special. That I have received HP's grace and the other "poor people" are less than(my son included ) and HP did not find them worthy of His grace.
It reminds me of the Publican in the Bible who outlined all his great deeds and was admonished for praying " I am grateful I am not like those others, sinners", instead of praying be "merciful to me a sinner. "
I would rather write out a gratitude and asset list and pray for those who are suffering from this dreadful disease .
Well what interesting thoughts you both have on that slogan. I thought the full slogan was, There but for the Grace of God go I, which was to remind me to be grateful for the things I am and have, and I thought it merely was about me. I'm guessing there is no right or wrong, just different opinions. And both your shares remind me to accept that things often are not black or white, but many shades of grey exist. Food for thought, so thanks! Lyne
I too have processed this for years as Lyne writes - I am just a moment/step/thought away from that which another is experiencing. I've always used this as a reminder to be grateful for the blessings I have, as well as for the belief in a HP which protects me.
Great thread folks and great shares! This does give me pause though....I'll have to think about it more when I have a bit of processing time!
(((Hugs))) to all!
