C2C 8-13

The C2C reading for Thirsday, August 13 speaks about our habit of placing  people on a  pedestal--especially our sponsor. The reading explains  that the answers that we receive from each others, including  our sponsors are merely the experience, strength and hope of the person who has worked the program. There are no experts and that is why we do not give advice except by suggesting an Al-Anon tool. It is truly a fellowship of equals.

The tools of the program are available to all of us and knowing that   our sponsors are human and make mistakes, for  they too are changing stumbling and growing members of Al-Anon.  It is very important to see that setting somebody up to be perfect, creates inevitable failure.

The quote is from sponsorship whats it all about:Sponsorship is a friendship made up of two members learning from one another to people learning a new way to live one day at

I must confess that although I did not do this in program I do believe I did this in my marriage. I set my husband up on a pedestal , as my Knight in shining armor, my HP and how shattered. I was when he proved to be only human-- suffering from a terrible disease of alcoholism.

I am truly grateful to the tools of this program and the principles because I was able to see and understand my part, and develop new and constructive tools to live.

As an unexpected gift I found that by letting go of my ego and becoming humble I have found more self-esteem and self-worth than ever. I couldnt imagine what a gift this program is!!!

Thank you, Betty. I find that I like the more humble me the best.
