chaos and anxiety!

I am a neat freak,a perfectionist and a little obsessive about my house. The first thing I do when I move into a new place  is make it pretty.I can't stand clutter and chaos,it actually makes me physically anxious. The problem is I ran out of time on the house I bought and we had to move in early. So I am living with unfinished drywall, unfinished plywood floors, paint cans, and building materials!!I feel almost disoriented, every day I get up and think maybe today I will make a dent, but there is so much to do it actually makes me tired just looking at it.I am seriously considering looking for someone to finish some of the work, although I am trying to stay in a certain budget, I am really tired and worn out and I am not accomplishing much. So, more decisions have to be made, would you spend the extra money to have it finished or would you muddle through it.There is a lot to do and I don't think I have the physical or emotional energy for it right now.I really need one neat room where I can escape to and breathe a sigh of relief.

I am a neat freak as well, so understand completely what you are

feeling.  I like my house neat and cozy as well and when I was

faced with repainting and repairing ceilings and floors in every

room, with no help  ... I took one room at a time, and only focused

on that one room.  If you look at everything that has to be done

all together it is overwhelming.  Just focus on one room at a time.

Oh Mary - we are very similar....I too have to have order, structure and clean/organized spaces. So - my best suggestion is to pick one room/one corner and put 'it' all there. Then pull out a box/bag/item at a time to manage. I can't think with chaos in every space but can manage if I isolate the clutter/chaos and then go to it and do it one step/chunk at a time....

So sorry that you are where you are. If you are truly frozen from the anxiety, it may be worth it to hire help. I've had to do that as well in the past - it's just what can you live with vs. what can you manage.

Know that I do understand and wish you the best. Hang in there and know we are just a post away.

Thank You so much, the anxiety is pretty bad and I need to realize my limits. There are some things I can do and others are just too much for me.I have been working on my bedroom,at least I will have one place to relax.I have a few more things to do to it and I will be able to live with it for a while.I am going to throw a rug down over the floor and try to get it painted first.

Mary I believe your serenity is worth it so that I would spend the extra money and hire help right away.
