I hear you!! Im always on step one with everything at times, especially new situations. Its not an easy step but it brings the most freedom for me. Its the owning up part of the program.x
I remember being on the phone with my aunt (the only other family member I know in Al Anon) and she told me to "not get frustrated that the first 3 steps take so much work. They're very hard." I was so puzzled about that statement after I got off the phone with her.
You're blessed littlelionman I don't have any other family members in program that I know of. Some have tried and then left cause they didn't like it...takes the fun out of funactic. Keep coming back. ((((hugs))))
Hah! I am indeed blessed Jerry, in more ways than I ever realized. What's sad is that I also thought about quitting the program at one time too. I was afraid. On some level I knew I was tinkering with something that I had never tinkered with before and part of me wanted to stick with the devil I knew. But I have 2 kids counting on at least one parent getting it together, so I chose recovery. Needless to say my trust and patience has been rewarded.
