Daughter Stole Pain Pill should I confront?

I had one pain pill from my last surgery hidden. I just found out it is gone. My daughter took it sometime this week. Should I confront her?

>>I bagan Alanon a few months ago because my dry drunk husband started drinking again.

I picked my 29 year old daughter out of state and brought her to my house with a one year old daughter to help her "get well" because she was exhausted and in an abusive relationship. On the trip home I found out she has been abusing pain pills off and on  5 years and is login through withdrawal.

She was prescribed Wellbutrin, a sleeping pill, and something for anxiety.  She asked me for Ibprophrin and poppy seeds because they help with withdrawal. She is sick, nauseous, sweating, dizzy, and exhausted. I'm caring for the baby. <<<

I would confront if I was very sure of my proof and then I would have to confront in an acceptable way...making I and my statements about how I feel about the situation and what I see happening as a consequence.  It was your med and taking it was unacceptable.  Understand having a addict come live with you also brings the addicts troubled behavior.  This isn't what you were looking for when you brought her and the child home so you're already getting negative consequences from being supportive.  That reveals the insanity we speak of in Al-Anon.  Good luck.  ((((hugs)))) smile

In my home, making mention of missing items brings about a host of lies, denial, and often yelling, drama, etc. I suspect the right answer is what makes sense in your home and in your world. Towards the end, I didn't bother making mention as I felt much of 'this' was happening to see if I would react. I just detached as best as possible and locked up anything I didn't want to disappear. It sounds crazy, but that was one step I could take easily that gave me a sense of comfort in my warped home.

My boys in the worst of their addiction would help themselves to items to sell for money. They have issues with boundaries beyond that in borrowing things like my ear-phones, phone charger, lighters, nail clippers - basically anything not locked up was fair game. If they put it back it would not be an issue for/to me.....but they never did/do and I was spending a ton of my life looking for items that 'had a home'.

I purchased everyone a 'gift set' that included these items, and kept mine away - again for my own comfort/guilty pleasure.

So - only you know if any good will come from bringing forward your findings. I wish you well and want you to know that you're not alone and we're always here!

(((Hugs)))
