The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I've always said that to me Al anon is what "church" should be.. a gathering of equals to help each other.. That closeness and lack of condemnation brings growth individually and as a group. No one person or group or type of people being seen as superior, also facilitates a kind of love that is deep and meaningful and built on principles and not personalities a lack of judgement that facilitates openness.
Also I've had some really horrible direction from "professional" counselors, true friends are the best counselors life has to offer.

Indeed the principle of not giving advise and the acceptance of each as equals is a profound recovery tool The wisdom of the Founders in identifying this as an important path to recovery is a true gift.
