New to the forums

Hi everyone, my name is Laura and I just picked my books up off the shelf for the first time in almost a year. I went to Al-Anon meetings 1-2 times a week for almost a year, then was forced to start working third shift. Sleep just always won over anything else. I left that job months ago, yet I haven't been back to a meeting. I figured I would ease myself back in this way and go at my own pace.

Welcome! So happy to share your journey with you!

I don't know about you, but I LOVED third shift. (nursing, memory care) I had time to spend, and people to get to know, and the serenity I felt at pre-dawn was just... I don't know. Something special that I wish I could regain somehow. But I hear you, sleep is needed. Toward the end of a few years on third shift, I actually thought my alarm clock was the devil, and I could defeat him by breaking my alarm clock. The day my roommate woke me up because work was calling, wondering where I was, and I found pieces of the alarm clock scattered around my bedroom was a real eye-opener!

Looking forward to seeing you back soon!

I did not love third shift and did it for a year and learned I am a morning person and like functioning that way. I am glad you are here and that you have been to face to face meetings. MIP is a great place as well to further your al-anon experience. Welcome to our family! Sending you love and support!
