Tomorrow is Easter so today was the Easter Egg Hunt for one of my jobs and the job falls to ME to organize the event - EEEK!
Years ago when I first took on the job, after getting refusal of help from the previous organizer (she was mad), someone told me to make it my own, so I did. I make it fun for ME; spend $850 MY WAY! I go to the big city and buy different things at different stores not too mindful of pricing, I buy different eggs to add to the mix, lots ( and I do mean LOTS) of candy to put into the eggs and whatever suits me for the hunt. Its just a lot of fun looking at things through the eyes of youngsters - will they like this? will they love that? Today's hunt dawned perfectly - my big fear on each hunt day is what the weather will do and today was absolutely perfect! Crowds gathered, some, most, community members whose esteem I have earned through years of successful hunts. The whistle blows and kids scatter gathering eggs and toys - I put prize coupons in some of the eggs so a line forms around the prize table with kids turning in their coupons for special prizes. I love the looks on the kids faces when they see that they've won certain prizes.
Its my best day ever and I don't suck at it. I think that is the number one most important thing I get from this day - I don't suck at it. Standing there after its all over, listening to the kids play in the playground in such great weather, whistles blowing (poor parents), watching the adults standing around chatting as the kids play - it is a great day, and I did it! and I don't suck at it! I wish every person on the planet could feel what I feel today - success, its a truly great feeling.

What fun, and what a job well done! My wife and I were just looking at our 14 yo son coming home from spring break yesterday, and having mixed emotions that he doesn't go on Easter egg hunts anymore. Sounds like you found the solution to that!
