to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
This is a pamphalet handed to me today at my first f2f meeting ever. I nearly burst into tears as I read this booklet written 4 years after I was born about what is happening in my life today.
To all of you who kept saying get ye to a meeting.... THANK YOU!
It was a steps meeting, but all I could find this week.
You know what, I took the 3C's to mean I have nothing to do with breaking the pattern. This little 5 page flyer helped me understand that I have everything to do with my A getting worse and not better. I was flabbergasted.
No I can't control it and neither can she, but I have not helped with her denial and self esteem. Now I feel like I need a drink... <sort of kidding>
I will go to more meetings. There is one closer that I am going to try on Tuesday.
Now I have this revelation and I don't feel like I can share it with her. I am not telling her I am going to meetings until I figure out if I should. I really hate this disease.

Let me put my little co-dependant arms around you and say...you are exactly where you are supposed to be right now. My f2f meetings saved me. This keeps me going forward. Keep working it...U R worth it!
I feel the same way about that brochure! I was going to f2f meetings a couple years ago and got it then but pulled it out a couple of months ago and it was like a revelation to me.
I also really feel like I truly benefitted from f2f meetings but they are difficult to get to. I'm still working on trying to find meetings that work with my schedule. The thing they always said at the end of our meetings was "Keep coming back, it works if you work it and your worth it!" I still find that saying comforting and true and repeat it to myself often.

Yes,it is a very old pamphlet, I got one 22 years ago, when I first found al-anon, it is a beautiful & wonderful pamphlet I don't know why they don't print it anymore, I've read it many times & it has helped me a lot.
I am so glad someone had a copy laying around to give to you, what a Blessing!
